Dr. Anne Reed
Veterinarian
I earned an undergraduate degree from Mills College in 1994, and graduated from U.C. Davis Veterinary School in 1998. In 2000, I became certified in veterinary acupuncture through the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society.
My practice, All Paws Holistic Veterinary Clinic in Point Richmond, is focused on Herbal Medicine and Traditional Chinese Food Therapy. It has been amazing to watch how effective nutrition and Chinese Medicine is for treating so many types of chronic illnesses. Treating these illnesses is also a difficult thing for clients to do for their pets – cooking is time intensive and sometimes ingredients are hard to find. When Sharon approached me about recipes for pet food that tastes great and has therapeutic benefits, I jumped at the chance to help make a product that was easy, high quality and provided what my patients needed in a yummy form. I am thrilled to be a part of 5 Element Food Therapy!
My Reason Why
This is me and my dog Hoochie. One day at the dog park she had a seizure, a week later Hoochie was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and given less that 60 days to live
I was devastated and just wanted her to be comfortable so I met with Dr Reed a holistic vet who recommended food therapy. Dr Reed prescribed a combination of fresh whole foods and medicinal herbs as a daily addition to Hoochie’s regular kibble diet. With that, Hoochie’s 60 days turned into 90 days and ultimately she lived for 9 months. I was so grateful for the extra time.
After being reminded of the healing power of food I met with Dr Reed to create a line of pet food supplements based on the 5 Element Food Theory which is a concept rooted in ancient medicine.
This theory dates back to 770 bc and the goal of this dietary practice is to support the body’s natural healing process by providing necessary nutrients to help each of the 5 organs function better. I believe if we feed our pets better we can love them longer.
This food is my love letter to Hoochie.
To their health,
Sharon
